The 1970s created a perfect musical bridge from the rebelliousness of the 1960s and the happy songs that are characteristic of the 1980s. Following the counterculture of the 60s, the 70s created a trend of relaxing music as well as dance music. People may have grown tired of the fighting that happened the previous decade and many of them sought a refuge in dance clubs and other places to enjoy a good time. Out of this idea emerged the Disco movement. Of course, there was still the bands and artists that continued to speak of the ills of society, typically characterized by the punk music of the era. But it seemed to be a much happier era than the 60s proved to be.
If ever a musical style defined a decade, Disco was the definition of the 1970s. Although its popularity was relatively short-lived, it created a great deal of songs and artists that people are still dancing to today. Van McCoy’s “The Hustle” has often been referred to as the definitive disco track and many people say it was the first disco song created.
The music of the 1980s was a decade of revolutionary changes on the music scene. The two major developments were the advent of MTV and the compact disc. Music became more diverse, with new wave, heavy metal, rap, techno pop, alternative rock and the "new" country sounds. And music became a huge marketing tool as filmmakers, TV producers and manufacturers of everything from sneakers to soft drinks used hit songs and hot performers to sell their products.
Keepin' it country, Playin' Traditional country hits!
Great country artist like Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Tammy Wynette and many others . have so many wonderful songs that most of us will never hear again. I play all of today's contemporary contry hit songs that are only authentic country sounds. Music from artists like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam, Dierks Bently, Kenny Chesney, contemporary country artists that perform genuine country sounds.
Some of the most beautiful love songs in the world are pure country, one of the best I've ever heard is in an old Slim Whitman song "I love you more than yesterday, but less than tomorrow" there's lots of wonderful stories told in these old tunes. For those that enjoy dancing, country music offers every beat and rhythm known to man. If you enjoy gospel music, you've got to hear Faron Young's "He'll be There", or Marty Robbin's "What God Has Done", there's countless great traditional and gospel songs.
OLDIES Music DJ plays them all either separately or mix in with other great music genres for your event.
